MILWAUKEE -- The Marquette University men's soccer team and head coach Louis Bennett will open their 2012 spring exhibition schedule this weekend with its annual Blue vs. Gold scrimmage on Sunday, March 4 at Valley Fields.

The Golden Eagles will host the likes of Northern Illinois, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and Green Bay this spring. The final three will visit through the Wisconsin D1 Spring Challenge hosted by Marquette.

Bennett is excited about seeing his players take the field against high quality competition.

"Our opponents are solid college teams including teams that went to the NCAA tourney," Bennett said, "but spring games are more about us than the opposition."

Bennett went on to say that "I am really looking forward to seeing the quality, quickness and quantity we can bring to the competition field" and that "the growth of players as individuals and as team units in the spring season can be a great indicator to the fall character."
