MILWAUKEE
– The Marquette University men’s soccer team held its annual Blue & Gold scrimmage at Valley Fields Thursday night, Aug. 13, kicking off the 2015-16 athletic events schedule.

The match consisted of two, 25-minute halves and Team Gold prevailed behind a C. Nortey goal in the 32nd minute. The senior captain received a through-ball from Alex McBride to the top of the 18-yard box and slid a shot past a diving Kyle Gress to score the lone tally of the contest.

Both teams played an even first half with David Selvaggi earning the best chance midway through the period for Team Blue.

Head coach Louis Bennett's squad showed a great display of quality and intensity despite opening holding its first official practice of the season one day prior.

The men’s and women’s teams will come together for Fan Fest tomorrow night, Aug. 14. A kids skills zone will be featured along with team poster giveaways, autographs and a free Qdoba taco bar. Event starts at 5 p.m.

The Marquette men will return to the Valley for a third straight night on Saturday, Aug. 15, for its first slated exhibition match of the preseason against Bradley University. Kick off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
