FAIRBORN, Ohio -- Despite turning up the pressure late in the match, the Marquette University men's soccer team was unable to break through Sunday in its 0-0 draw at Wright State, as MU finishes the 2012 preseason with a 1-0-2 record in exhibition matches.

The Golden Eagles rattled off nine shots in the second half, all in the final 30 minutes of the contest, including two shots on goal by Adam Lysak. Lysak also had a shot blocked at the top of the box in the 87th minute. He collected his own rebound, but was tackled before he could get another look at the goal.

Marquette also had some good chances earlier in the period. Ryan Robb sent a cross through the box from the right side in the 60th minute that squeaked by the far post. In the 78th minute, Sebastian Jansson played the ball in from the left wing that Anthony Selvaggi headed back across the goal mouth, but a marked Kelmend Islami was unable to get a good touch as his shot was directed wide left.

It was a refreshing change of pace from the first half in which the Golden Eagles were out-shot by Wright State, 4-3. MU finished the game with a 12-7 advantage in the shot column, as goalkeepers Charlie Lyon and Mac Wheeler combined for the shutout, Marquette's second consecutive clean sheet following a 0-0 draw against Xavier this past Friday.

Starting center back Axel Sjoberg only played the final 19 minutes Sunday.

With another tie, head coach Louis Bennett and his squad completes the exhibition ledger with a record of 1-0-2. The Golden Eagles defeated Loyola University Chicago in the preseason opener 2-1 at Valley Fields.

MU was without the services of regular starters Dennis Holowaty, C. Nortey and Bryan Ciesiulka on the two-game road trip as they rest prior to the start of the regular season which gets underway this Friday, Aug. 24 when the Golden Eagles play host to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Marquette starters: Lyon (GK), Dillon, Hermsen, Mau, J. Pothast, E. Pothast, Robb, Hoover, Selvaggi, Jansson, Islami (subs: Wheeler, Sjoberg, Lysak, Schillinger)
