MILWAUKEE -- MILWAUKEE - The No. 12 Marquette University men's soccer team drew 2-2 with Wright State University Sunday at Valley Fields in MU's final tune-up exhibition match.

At the end of the first 90 of 115 minutes played, the visiting Raiders led MU 2-1. Prior to the start of the match, both squads agreed to play one 25-minute extra-time session after the standard 90 minutes of regulation. In extra time, a Colin Koerber header in the 102nd minute leveled the score at two apiece.

Early in the first half, a diving header from the top of the six-yard box by Jalim Bayo of WSU landed in the back of right side of the net to give the Raiders a 1-0 edge in the 13th minute.

MU came knocking on the door in the 24th minute. All-American candidate C. Nortey fed Coco Navarro a low cross that led to a slicing shot that clanked just the far post.

A minute later, WSU added their second goal of the afternoon off an unassisted tally by Eric Lynch off a corner kick. Lynch curled a corner that was deflected by MU goalkeeper Charlie Lyon only to end up in the back of the net for a 2-0 WSU lead.

Despite MU's two-goal deficit heading into the second half, MU had many scoring opportunities thanks to a four-to-one corner kick advantage after the first 45.

At the 56th minute marker, the Golden Eagles were able to cut the WSU lead in half. A foul in the box by WSU gave redshirt junior David Selvaggi a penalty kick opportunity which he sent low to the left side back of the net to put MU on the board.

Trailing 2-1, Marquette's best equalizing chance of the half had occurred in the 67th minute when Navarro gave Nortey a through ball that Nortey pushed to the near post, but was snatched by the WSU goalkeeper.

Another close shot on goal for MU came in the 88th minute when a flip throw-in produced a Luis Trude shot that was punched over the crossbar by a leaping WSU goalkeeper.

Koerber's header to the far side back of the net off of a Trude cross in the 102nd minute leveled it at 2-2, and the score would stay tied for the remainder of extra time.

Throughout the match, substitutions were made frequently with the entire MU active roster logging minutes. Senior Sebastian Jansson made his preseason debut.

Despite finishing with a draw, Marquette once again dominated the box score. MU had the advantage over the Raiders in corner kicks (13-5), shots (18-9) and shots on goal (11-4).

With the preseason schedule now complete, MU heads to Bloomington, Indiana for the adidas/IU Credit Union Classic to take on preseason No. 1-ranked and defending national champion Notre Dame. Kick off against the Fighting Irish is scheduled for 4 p.m. Central time (5 p.m. ET).
