- It was another Milwaukee Cup for the ages as the excitement played out to the final seconds and the Marquette University men's soccer team retained the hardware thanks to a Louis Bennett II tying goal in the 73rd minute in front of a packed house that broke the Engelmann Stadium record of 4,030 patrons.

Bennett II's goal was a wonder strike as he curled a left-footed blast from 25 yards out from the right wing and inside the left post in the 73rd minute. UW-Milwaukee took an early lead on Tinashe Marowa's 22nd minute goal, gaining the momentum early with numerous chances.

It was an evenly-played match with both teams shifting momentum at certain points in the match. Both sides earned 17 shots, while the Golden Eagles (1-1-1) managed to put seven on frame as compared to the Panthers' six. Bennett II and Jesper Larsson led the Golden Eagles with four shots apiece, including two each on target.

The Panthers (1-1-1) had the momentum early, putting significant pressure on Marquette's backline by utilizing their speed on the quick artificial pitch. Marowa's goal in the 22nd minute was a well-executed play that saw him beat his defender and receive the ball from 15 yards out to which he snuck a shot inside the right near post.

Larsson, who came on in the 19th minute, seemed to gain his legs shortly after the UWM goal and began to turn the tide with his play-making ability. The Swedish freshman earned several quality chances, including four shots in the first half - two of which landed on target.

Larsson went on to play the entire second half and provided a much-needed spark for the Golden Eagles, who gained the momentum back when Bennett II capitalized on his first goal of the season and ninth of his career. The assist went to Alex McBride, who laid a perfect pass at his feet. It was McBride's second assist to go along with a goal for the redshirt sophomore already this season.

In net, it was another solid effort by freshman Luis Barraza. The Santa Teresa, New Mexico native made five saves, including two in the second half and overtime combined. His counterpart, Agustin Rey tallied six saves with three coming in the second half.

The draw was the first in the Milwaukee Cup series since 2007, which was played at Valley Fields to a 1-1 result. In his Marquette career, head coach Louis Bennett is 4-4-2 all-time in the series. While the Golden Eagles retain the Milwaukee Cup, Bennett remains sitting on 199 career coaching victories.

His next shot to capture win No. 200 will be Monday night, Sept. 7, against Dayton in the home opener at Valley Fields. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m.
