MILWAUKEE - Two second-half goals erased a 1-0 halftime deficit for the Marquette University men's soccer team, but visiting Providence was able to find the equalizer late as the teams settled for a 2-2 double overtime draw on Homecoming Saturday at Valley Fields.

After Danny Griffin gave the Friars (2-7-2, 1-2-1 BIG EAST) a first half advantage, the Golden Eagles (1-8-2, 1-2-1 BIG EAST) answered in the second half with a pair of goals from Jason Davis and Brendan Skinner. Davis' goal was his first in a Marquette uniform and came in the 64th minute to tie the match.

In only took 8 more minutes for MU to find the go-ahead score, converting a set piece to go up 2-1. Luka Prpa's service to the back post was picture perfect and Skinner was there to tap it home.

Providence drew even in the 79th minute after Klisman Sousa drew foul trying to avoid an MU defender in the box. The referee awarded a penalty kick and Mac Steeves converted for his sixth goal of the year.

Davis led the offense with a strong second half that saw the Golden Eagles outshoot their counterparts, 12-9, in the final 45 minutes plus overtime. He tallied a match-high eight shots, including three on target off the bench.

Marquette took 17 shots throughout the course of the game and Friar goalie Colin Miller notched five saves. Marquette goalie Luis Barraza made three saves of his own, including a diving attempt on Steeves in the 19th minute. Jack Alberts had a big save as well, heading a Sousa shot off the goal line in the 38th minute.

Marquette is back in action Saturday, Oct. 14, traveling to Queens, N.Y. to take on St. John's.
