MILWAUKEE - Junior forward Chris Lee recorded his second hat trick of the season, and had an assist on Marquette's fourth goal as the Golden Eagles (8-7-1) defeated Wis.-Green Bay (2-11-1), 4-1 at Valley Fields. Lee has a total of 13 goals on the year, tying him for seventh on the Marquette single season goal scoring list.

While Lee may have been the key factor in MU's win, it was the Phoenix who started the match on top. Just three minutes into action, an unmarked Adam Schmitt pounded a header in from seven yards out after Lorcan Cronin played a cross perfectly to Schmitt's forehead.

"It was frustrating early," head coach Steve Adlard said. "We conceded a soft goal. It's the same sort of goal we've conceded in the past. It's become a trend. It's something we will correct."

Lee scored the equalizer in the 36th minute. He fired a 12 yard shot into the lower left corner of the goal. Senior defender Zach McCallum fed Lee who then carried the ball in from 20 yards.

"Having made some adjustments, we created some better opportunities," Adlard said. "It was important to score that first goal in the first half. At least it let us start the game over."

The duo switched for the second goal of the match. In the 53rd minute, McCallum scored his first of the season knocking home an 11 yard shot to the lower near post. Lee headed the ball across the goal area to McCallum after senior midfielder Tony Walby entered a corner kick.

The scoring was capped in the 62nd minute when Lee struck for the third time. Freshman midfielder Richie Harris wound through the UWGB defense and played a through ball to Lee on the right side. UWGB keeper Dave Palmer stood little chance against Lee who then snuck between three Phoenix defenders to put the ball in the net to the upper near post.

"It was important that Chris Lee was unstoppable tonight," Adlard said. "With his speed, quickness and change of direction, he was very tough for them. It's a credit to him."

The Golden Eagles continue against instate rivals in its next match. Marquette hosts Wis.-Milwaukee on Wednesday, October 29 at 7 p.m. at Valley Fields.
