Marquette Men's Soccer Announces Spring Schedule

The Golden Eagles will host theirannual intra-squad match Saturday, March 21, giving MU soccer fans a first glimpse of the team this spring. From there, Marquette will host St. Louis, UW-Parkside, Green Bay and Milwaukee. The team will then hit the road against Bradley before returning home to host its annual Alumni Game Saturday, April 25.
Marquette, which finished with an 8-6-4 overall record in 2014, opened spring play Feb. 27, with a meeting against a Northwestern club that qualified for the first round of the NCAA tournament a year ago.
The team's next scheduled competition date will take place Sunday, March 29, at Valley Fields when the Golden Eagles play host to St. Louis. The Billikens had a remarkable season in 2014, finishing with a 14-5-2 overall mark and represented the Atlantic-10 as an at-large bid in the NCAA tournament. SLU defeated Tulsa in the first round before bowing out to Louisville in a 2-1 result.
On April 11, MU will take on some in-state competition as Green Bay and UW-Parkside invade Valley Fields for a split squad affair. Start times are set for 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Green Bay was a six-win team a season ago and finished eighth in the Horizon League. Meanwhile, Division II UW-Parkside won nine games in 2014 and tied Milwaukee in a preseason exhibition.
Saturday, April 18, Marquette will play its lone road match during the spring season when it travels to Peoria, Illinois to take on Bradley. The Braves also won nine games a season ago and made it all the way the Missouri Valley Conference semifinal game as the No. 6 seed before falling to eventual tourney champ SIU-Edwardsville.
The Golden Eagles will conclude their allotted competition dates with the 10th Annual Bob Summy Classic against Milwaukee on Wednesday, April 22. Summy, who was a respected and loyal supporter both programs, passed away in 2005. Since his passing Marquette and Milwaukee have held a game each spring in his honor. Both Milwaukee schools met last fall with Marquette winning 2-nil on its home turf.
Marquette, which is looking to get back to the NCAA tournament just two years removed from back-to-back trips, will conclude its spring schedule with is annual Alumni Game scheduled for Saturday, April 25, at 4 p.m.
