March 26, 2011

FARIBAULT, Minn. -- Adam Lysak scored four goals in the first half Saturday as the Marquette University men's soccer team went on to a 6-0 rout over the Thunder Bay Chill of the USL Premier Development League.

The spring exhibition match was played at Shattuck-St. Mary's School and included members of the Thunder Bay reserves squad.

Bryan Ciesiulka assisted on three of Lysak's four scores, the first of which came in the seventh minute. Lysak capped off his night with his final strike in the 41st minute before being replaced by Chris Madsen.

Madsen, who got on the scoredboard in the 74th minute to make it 5-0, also had a goal called back early in the second half due to an offside call. Mallace closed out the scoring with an unassisted goal three minutes from full time.

The two sides then proceeded with a 20-minute "mini-game," which MU won 4-0. Scoring for Marquette were Andy Huftalin, Keith Sierra, Patrick Kelly and Ciesiulka.

MU continues its spring slate next Saturday, April 2 when the Golden Eagles host Cardinal Stritch (10 a.m. CT) and UW Parkside (4 p.m.) in a doubleheader at Valley Fields.
