Men's Soccer Draws With Bradley in Spring Action

MILWAUKEE -- The Marquette University men's soccer team held its fourth competition date of the spring season and lone road match with a 1-1 against Bradley University Saturday, April 18, at Shea Stadium in Peoria, Illinois.

The Braves cracked the scoring by converting a set piece off a corner kick in the 17th minute. The Golden Eagles garnered several opportunities throughout the day as evidenced by an 18-4 shot advantage, but couldn't break through until late in the contest.

Marquette's Danny Jarosz nearly found the back of the net in the 60th minute, but his header attempt was cleared off the line.

The Golden Eagles were finally able to level the match in the 82nd minute when Louis Bennett II's free kick attempt found the head of John Pothast, who then slotted it past the BU keeper.

Marquette had many scoring chances as the final eight minutes ticked away, but were unable to find the go-ahead tally.

The Golden Eagles andBraves have faced each other only once in the regular season all-time and that was back on Sept. 17, 1993. In that meeting, Marquette prevailed witha thrilling 4-2 overtime result on the road.

As far as the remainder of the spring season goes, head coach Louis Bennett's squad wasscheduled to play host to crosstown foe UW-Milwaukee for its final competition date Wednesday, April 22, but that match has since been canceled. Check for future schedule updates and team announcements.
