MILWAUKEE –
The Marquette University men’s soccer team will continue its spring schedule on Saturday, April 23, when they play host to the MKE Torrent of the NPSL at Valley Fields, with kickoff slated for 7 p.m. Central time.

The friendly is the penultimate of the Golden Eagles' spring schedule. It comes following a scoreless draw against cross-town foe UW-Milwaukee in the 11th annual Bob Summy Classico April 14.

The match will be the second-ever for the Torrent, which defeated UW-Milwaukee in their preseason opener on Thursday night. The 2016 season is the first for Milwaukee’s only professional outdoor team.

“It’s an opportunity for a new team that is trying to make a dent into professional soccer,” head coach Louis Bennett said. “We’re expecting to give ourselves a good showing and further our development to be prepared for the fall.”

While Marquette will have limited scouting on the Torrent, there will be a sense of familiarity with much of the squad as five members of the team spent time with UW-Milwaukee during their respective collegiate careers.

“It will be a definite yard stick for where were are right now and will give us insight to where we want to be,” Bennett said.

Following the derby with the Torrent, the Golden Eagles will conclude their spring season when they take on UW-Madison on Saturday, April 30 at 7 p.m. Marquette defeated the Badgers, 1-0, back on Oct. 7, 2015. Kelmend Islami’s goal in the 77th minute was the difference.
