Marquette Soccer Closes Out Spring vs. MKE Torrent Sunday

April 27, 2018

MILWAUKEE – The high-flying Marquette University men’s soccer team closes out its spring competition season on Sunday, April 29, hosting an inner-city battle against semi-pro club the Milwaukee Torrent at 12 p.m. Central time inside the Valley Dome.

The Golden Eagles are unbeaten in six matches (5-0-1) during the spring campaign and have scored 19 goals, while conceding just five. In last Sunday’s doubleheader in the dome, Luka Prpa scored the lone goal in a 1-1 draw vs. Cardinal Stritch before Diego Nuñez provided MU’s third hat trick of the spring in a 4-1 win over Northern Michigan.

Seven players have cracked the scoresheet so far with four (Lukas Sunneson, Connor Alba, Prpa, Nuñez) sharing the team-lead with four goals apiece. Sunneson (Alumni Game), Alba (at UW-Milwaukee) and Nuñez (vs. Northern Michigan) all have hat tricks, while the backline has solidified in front of the stellar play in net by Luis Barraza, who has made a full recovery from an injury that kept him out of the final four matches of the 2017 season.

Sunday’s match against the Torrent will be played inside the Valley Dome at 12 p.m. Central time. Admission is free.
