May 8, 2014
MILWAUKEE -- Head coach Louis Bennett has announced the addition of midfielder Luis Trude (Sao Paulo, Brazil) to the Marquette University men's soccer program. Trude comes to the Golden Eagles after three accolade-filled collegiate seasons at William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Miss.
Trude, who will graduate from William Carey later this month, will pursue a Master of Business Administration degree at Marquette and will have one season of eligibility remaining.
The midfielder is coming off an NAIA First Team All-American season at WCU where he recorded 15 assists on top of three goals in 15 games. Trude was also named the Southern States Athletic Conference Player of the Year and was an NAIA Academic All-American in 2013.
"We are very pleased to add a person and player like Luis to the Marquette 2014 team. He brings a maturity, quality and experience that will enhance what we already have plus," Bennett said about the addition.
In his three seasons for the Crusaders, Trude accounted for 33 assists and notched 17 goals in 33 career matches. Trude was named team Most Valuable Player his freshman season as he helped lead WCU to the NAIA Final Four.
Trude also spent time playing with Chattanooga F.C. where his team reached the 2012 National Premier Soccer League National Final.
He joins a nationally ranked 2014 recruiting class that features Martin Alba, Danny Jarosz, Colin Koerber and Bryan Fletcher.
"This situation is unique and unusual for men's soccer but when a player & person like Luis comes knocking on our door and wants to be a part of Marquette and we have opportunity, it's a good thing. His experience will be invaluable and help strengthen our already strong midfield. He's mature and brings a good skill set to the position."
