Aug. 8, 2012
MILWAUKEE - With the dawning of another school year around the corner, the Marquette University men's soccer team took the first step towards defending its BIG EAST Blue Division title Wednesday as the Golden Eagles reported to Valley Fields for the official start of the 2012 preseason.
Players arrived at 6:45 a.m. for the first of three team training sessions. Led by the coaching staff, the first session focused on player conditioning and one-on-one defending. Following breakfast and a short rest, the squad again took to the field for a technical session at 10:30 a.m. that lasted just over an hour.
The final session of the day was at 3:30 p.m. and included a discussion on tactics with head coach Louis Bennett inside the team's facility at Valley Fields, which was followed by another training session on the pitch. Team dinner then closed out the evening.
Marquette will have a couple of training sessions tomorrow (Aug. 9) prior to the annual Fan Fest celebration at The Valley. Gates open at 4:30 p.m. followed by an abbreviated Blue vs. Gold match at 5:15 p.m. and the women's soccer exhibition match against the Wisconsin Badgers at 7:30 p.m.
