Rain or Shine, MU to Host Milwaukee Cup on Wednesday
Aug. 30, 2010 Game Notes MILWAUKEE - The Marquette men's soccer team will host Milwaukee in the 38th crosstown battle for the Milwaukee Cup. Kickoff is slated for 7:05 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 1 at Valley Fields.The match was originally scheduled to be played at UWM, but was moved due to ongoing playing surface renovations. The Panthers lead the all-time Milwaukee Cup record, 25-9-3, but the Golden Eagles enter the match with the two most recent wins. Last season, Marquette won 1-0 off a direct kick by then-sophomore Calum Mallace in the 85th minute. In 2008, Marquette reclaimed the Milwaukee Cup with a 2-0 victory at UWM, with goals by then-freshman Mallace and then-junior Tom Lynn. Tickets for Wednesday's regular season opener are still available. Prices are $5 for adults and $3 for youth. Tickets can be purchased in advance of Wednesday at the Al McGuire Center ticket office between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. The game will also be televised by Time Warner Cable Sports32 and can be heard on Marquette Radio.
