MILWAUKEE -- The Marquette University men's soccer team's home contest against Oregon State at noon Sunday at Valley Fields will be the deciding match of the 2014 Milwaukee Panther Invitational.

Following Marquette's 2-0 win against Gonzaga Friday night paired with Oregon State's 2-0 win against Milwaukee, both teams are tied with one victory along with goal differential.

This is the second 2014 Milwaukee Panther Invitational match for MU men's soccer, ranked as high as No. 15 in the poll. Oregon State, which is receiving votes in this week's NSCAA poll, travels all the way from Corvallis, Oregon, and is 3-0-0 on the season after a pair of wins at the Nike Portland Invitational and a victory against Milwaukee Friday night.

The defending BIG EAST Conference champion Golden Eagles (1-2-0), which are playing the program's 50th season at Marquette, secured its first victory of the season Friday night in a 2-0 win against visiting Gonzaga thanks to a pair of career-first goals by redshirt freshmen Alex McBride and Daniel Szczepanek. Sophomore Louis Bennett II finished the night with two assists and redshirt sophomore John Pothast added another.

Friday night's match was the first clean sheet of the 2014 campaign for Senior CLASS Award candidate Charlie Lyon. The MU goalie now has 21 career shutouts, seven away from matching the all-time school record (Jim Welch, 28).
