Men's Soccer Welcomes Drake To Valley Fields Sunday
Sep 7, 2013
MILWAUKEE - It will be an action-packed Sunday at Valley Fields as the Marquette University men's soccer team welcomes the Drake Bulldogs in the final match of the 39th Panther Invitational. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Central time following a women's soccer doubleheader.
There will be a tailgate party for Marquette students from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. with free admission to the day's matches and free dogs, along with other festivities and giveaways. All fans attending Sunday's games should note that capacity for home men's and women's soccer matches at Valley Fields this fall is capped at 500 people until the ongoing stadium project is finished in early October.
Marquette (1-1-1) can win the Panther Invitational with a victory against Bulldogs. The Golden Eagles are currently at the top of the tournament table after picking up three points Friday in their opening match with a 3-0 shutout over Bowling Green at Engelmann Stadium on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Drake (0-2-1) is still looking for its first win of the season after coming off a 1-1 draw against Milwaukee in Friday's nightcap at Engelmann. The Bulldogs trailed Milwaukee after the 40th minute until Garrett Cralls's equalizer midway through the second half leveled the match. Goalkeeper Rich Gallagher played all 110 minutes and finished with six saves.
There will be no live audio/video streaming available for Marquette men's and women's soccer home matches until construction to the Valley Fields press box has been completed. However, fans can follow Sunday's match online through Gametracker live stats on GoMarquette.com.
