Oct. 1, 2012
MILWAUKEE - Marquette redshirt sophomore Charlie Lyon (St. Charles, Ill.) has been named the BIG EAST Conference Goalkeeper of the Week for the second time in less than a month the league announced Monday. Lyon recorded his sixth shutout of the season Saturday with a 2-0 clean sheet at Providence. He also made a career high nine saves against the Friars while facing a total of 17 shots. Lyon earned his first BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week award back on Sept. 3. Marquette improved to 10-0-0 on the season (2-0-0 BIG EAST) after last week with a 2-1 double-overtime home victory over Wisconsin on Wednesday, in addition to Saturday's win at Providence, the Golden Eagles' second shutout in as many conference games. Lyon enters this week ranked sixth in NCAA Division I with an impressive 0.48 goals against average and fourth in the nation in save percentage (.886). He has helped the Golden Eagles climb to as high as No. 7 (Soccer America) in the Division I men's soccer rankings. Lyon's Shutouts in 2012
