MILWAUKEE -- The No. 7 Marquette University men's soccer team (7-2-1, 1-0-1 BIG EAST) travels to Indianapolis, Indiana to take on Butler (4-5-3, 0-3-0 BIG EAST) Wednesday night at 6 p.m. Central time at the Butler Bowl.

The defending BIG EAST Conference regular-season and tournament-champion Golden Eagles face their third BIG EAST opponent of 2014 and currently have the longest unbeaten streak in the league at eight games. This is the first time MU has traveled to the Hoosier State to take on the Bulldogs in 22 years.

All-America candidate Charlie Lyon has not conceded a goal in a program-record 808:39 minutes, the 10th longest streak in NCAA Division I men's soccer history, going into Wednesday's match. MU has shutout its last eight opponents (7-0-1).

Last time out, Marquette defeated St. John's 2-0 at Valley Fields (Oct. 11). Sophomore Louis Bennett II scored his first goal of the season for the game-winner in the 47th minute and redshirt junior C. Nortey tacked on an insurance goal with three seconds left in regulation for his fifth goal of the season.

Marquette has a 3-1-0 advantage in the all-time series with Butler dating back to 1990. Last season was the first BIG EAST game between the two schools, with MU coming out on top 3-2 (2OT) at Valley Fields. Axel Sjoberg, Eric Pothast (older brother to John Pothast) and C. Nortey were goal scorers in the match. Nortey tallied the game-winner in the 106th minute.

The Bulldogs enter Wednesday's match with a 4-5-3 overall record, 0-3-0 in the BIG EAST. Butler is looking for its first victory in BIG EAST thus far, having fallen 2-0 to Georgetown (Sept. 27), 3-2 (2OT) at St. John's (Oct. 4) and 2-1 at Creighton (Oct. 11). David Goldsmith (5g, 2a) and Jeff Adkins (4g, 2a) are the leading offensive producers for BU through 12 matches.
