MILWAUKEE -- Marquette University freshman men's soccer player Sebastian Jansson has been named to the Soccer America Team of the Week the publication announced Thursday morning.

Jansson, who netted game-winning goals last week in MU's 1-0 win over No. 12 Notre Dame and in the Golden Eagles' 2-1 decision against No. 23 West Virginia, had already generated national attention earlier in the week.

The left-footed Swedish midfielder was also named to the College Soccer News Team of the Week, as well as being tabbed BIG EAST Rookie of the Week and CollegeSoccer360.com Primetime Performer of the Week.

His tally against the Irish gave Marquette its first win over Notre Dame since 1990 and was his first collegiate goal.

Jansson left Wednesday night's game against No. 24 Georgetown in the second half due to a shin injury. He is expected to return Saturday for the Golden Eagles' match at Seton Hall (noon Central time).
