Milwaukee - The Marquette University men's soccer team continues its bid to earn one of 12 spots in the upcoming BIG EAST Conference Championship Wednesday night at Valley Fields when the squad hosts No. 19 West Virginia in league action.

The opening whistle is set for 7 p.m. and will be broadcast live on Time Warner Sports Channel 32.

The Golden Eagles are coming off a tough 2-1 loss to Georgetown on Saturday night at home. The deciding goal came when a free kick deflected off a MU defender. The Mountaineers, meanwhile, downed No. 1 Connecticut, 1-0, Oct. 20 at home.

"We certainly have an uphill battle on our hands if we hope to make the conference tournament and Wednesday's match is the first step toward that goal," head coach Louis Bennett said. "We are very fortunate to be in a league that provides nationally ranked opponents on a consistent basis and are excited about the opportunity."

Marquette is currently in seventh place in the Blue Division, while West Virginia owns third. The top six programs in each division advance to the conference tournament.

The Golden Eagles are led offensively by sophomore Nick Kay (3G) and junior Dan Addis (2G, 2A). Both players found the back of the net last week.
