Marquette Hosts Cincinnati in First Round of BIG EAST
Oct. 29, 2012 BIG EAST bracket (pdf) MILWAUKEE - For the fourth consecutive season the Marquette University men's soccer team, the No. 4 seed in the Blue Division, will make an appearance in postseason play when it welcomes Cincinnati, the No. 5 seed in the Red Division, to Valley Fields for a BIG EAST Men's Soccer Championship first-round showdown on Wednesday, Oct 31 at 7 p.m. Central time. Marquette finished the regular season with a 14-2-1 overall mark and 5-2-1 in conference play, placing the Golden Eagles in a third place tie with Notre Dame in the Blue Division. Due to regular season head-to-head results, MU earned the No. 4 seed of the Blue Division. Cincinnati went 6-8-4 on the campaign, including 3-3-2 in the BIG EAST. The Bearcats are led by sophomore forward Cole DeNormandie, who has tallied three goals and four assists this season. Goalkeeper Taylor Hafling paces the BIG EAST with 79 saves. Marquette holds a 14-10-3 series advantage against the Bearcats, which includes a 6-4-2 mark at Valley Fields. The teams last met on Sept. 25 2009, when Marquette pulled out a 1-0 win in double overtime. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for youth ages 12 and younger.
