Prpa's Record-Tying Effort Earns BIG EAST Weekly Honors

Oct. 30, 2017

Official BIG EAST Release

NEW YORK - Marquette University sophomore Luka Prpa was named to the BIG EAST Conference Weekly Honor Roll after tying the single-game assists record in Wednesday's 4-3 win over Creighton, the league office announced today.

Prpa assisted on all four Marquette goals in last week's crucial victory over Creighton, which positioned the Golden Eagles with an opportunity to clinch a BIG EAST tournament spot with a win at DePaul on Wednesday (Nov. 1). The four helpers tied a program record for most assists in a game as he became just the fourth Golden Eagle to accomplish the feat. The three others to precede him in reaching the mark, include: Cory Butler (vs. Butler in 1994), Derek Gutierrez (vs. East Carolina in 2003) and Anthony Colaizzi (vs. Pittsburgh in 2009).

It was the third multi-assist performance for the Wind Lake, Wis., native, who currently ranks third on the team with seven points on a goal and five assists. In 31 career games, Prpa has amassed 33 points on 11 goals and 11 assists.

A Preseason All-BIG EAST selection, Prpa is the fifth Golden Eagle this season to claim weekly honor roll accolades. He and the Golden Eagles will travel to Chicago to take on DePaul in the regular season finale on Wednesday. Coverage will air live on the BIG EAST Digital Network, beginning at noon Central time.
