Marquette Preps For 2011 BIG EAST Men's Soccer Championship

MILWAUKEE - The Marquette University men's soccer team earned a bye for the first round of the 2011 BIG EAST Men's Soccer Championship and will host the winner of the Louisville vs. Georgetown/Providence game in a quarterfinal match on Sunday, Nov. 6. Kickoff is set for 1:05 p.m. CT at Valley Fields.
There will be free "Welcome to the Valley" t-shirts given away to the first 150 Marquette students. Student admission is free with a valid MU ID.
General admission tickets are now on sale at the Al McGuire Center ticket office, and will also be available at Valley Fields on game day. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for youth ages 18 and younger. Groups of 15 or more can receive a discounted rateof $2/ticket if they contact the ticket office in advance of the match. Marquette (9-7-2, 7-2-0 BIG EAST) locked up the No.1 seed of the Blue Division after its 1-0 victory over Pittsburgh on Oct. 29. It is the Golden Eagles' third NCAA Division I regular season conference title and their first since joining the BIG EAST in 2005.
The No. 4, 5 and 6 seeds of the Blue Division will not be finalized until after Notre Dame plays Seton Hall in the teams regular season finale on Nov. 1. The Fighting Irish are currently in the No. 6 spot with 13 points but can claim the No. 4 position with a victory over the Pirates.
Louisville finished the season 10-5-2 overall, 3-4-2 in the BIG EAST and received the No. 4 position in the Red Division, tallying 11 points in conference play. The Cardinals will host either Georgetown or Providence on Thursday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m. ET in the first round of the league tournament.
The semi-finals and final will be held, for the second consecutive year, at Red Bull Arena in Harrison, N.J., on Nov. 11 and 13.
