No. 24 Marquette Travels To Seton Hall Saturday
Oct. 31, 2014
Saturday's match will be live streamed on www.SHUPirates.com. Fans can also follow Marquette men's soccer on Twitter (@marquettesoccer) for real-time updates.
Marquette enters Saturday's match in sixth place in the BIG EAST Conference table with six points. The top six teams in the league make it to the 2014 BIG EAST Men's Soccer Championship, meaning MU controls its destiny with two league games remaining. Seton Hall sits just one point behind MU in a three-way tie for seventh place.
A win for MU over Seton Hall Saturday would knock the Pirates out of contention for the BIG EAST tournament. If the Golden Eagles defeat Seton Hall and then DePaul on Friday, Nov. 7, they will earn the final slot in the league tournament.
Marquette will be the sixth ranked opponent the Pirates play in 2014. They are 1-3-1 in such matches so far. Seton Hall has a 1-4-2 record in BIG EAST play, its one league win coming against No. 3 Georgetown (Oct. 18), 1-0.
MU defeated Seton Hall 2-1 at Valley Fields last season. C. Nortey scored the game-winner in the 81st minute.
Saturday's contest against the Pirates concludes a two-game road trip and marks the final away match of the 2014 regular season for MU. On Wednesday, the Golden Eagles fell 2-0 to No. 10 Creighton at Morrison Stadium in Omaha, Nebraska.
The Golden Eagles return to Valley Fields next Friday, Nov. 7 at 7 p.m. CT to host DePaul and celebrate Senior Night.
