Men's Soccer Earns Three Academic All-District Selections
Nov. 10, 2017
AUSTIN, Texas – Seniors Daniel Szczepanek and Jack Alberts, as well as sophomore Luka Prpa, were all named to the 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-District 6 Team. This is the fifth time in the past six years Marquette has earned multiple all-district selections and most since 2013.
Szczepanek collects Academic All-District accolades for the second consecutive year after landing on the first team in 2016. The Grayslake, Ill., native recently completed his Marquette men’s soccer career as the active leader with 66 career games played, having never missed a match since his redshirt freshman season in 2014. The senior forward notched his second career multi-goal game earlier this season and finished the year third on the team in goals.
Already holding an undergraduate degree in accounting, Szczepanek is currently pursuing his master’s at Marquette’s Graduate School of Business and owns a 3.64 GPA throughout his academic career.
Another senior, Alberts capped a proud Marquette career with his first Academic All-District honor. The Hinsdale, Ill., native appeared in 54 games for the Golden Eagles backline, including 10 this season with four starting assignments. A mechanical engineering major, Alberts owns a 3.75 GPA.
Prpa, who was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team, earned his first Academic All-District honor. The Wind Lake, Wis., native has started all 32 matches in his career, accumulating 33 points on 11 goals and 11 assists. He followed up a BIG EAST Freshman of the Year campaign with a goal and five assists in 2017.
The sophomore biomedical sciences major owns a perfect 4.0 GPA during his academic career to date. He, along with Szczepanek and Alberts, has been a BIG EAST All-Academic Team selection each year of eligibility.
All 11 selections to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 6 team will now be placed on the Academic All-America ballot. Voting begins Nov. 21.
