Prpa Named CoSIDA Academic All-American®

AUSTIN, Texas – Marquette University sophomore Luka Prpa has been named to the 2017 Academic All-America® third team as chosen by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), it was announced on Thursday.
Prpa becomes the sixth Academic All-America selection in program history and first since Charlie Lyon’s second-straight first team nod in 2014.
A sophomore midfielder and Wind Lake, Wis., native, Prpa is a biomedical sciences major and owns a perfect cumulative grade point average of 4.0. Earlier this season, he was a CoSIDA Academic All-District pick in his first season of eligibility along with teammates and redshirt seniors Jack Alberts and Daniel Szczepanek.
Prpa was named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team after totaling a goal and five assists in his sophomore campaign. He has started all 32 matches in his career, accumulating 33 points on 11 goals and 11 assists. He was BIG EAST Freshman of the Year in 2016 after finishing second in the league with 10 goals and six assists.
To be eligible for Academic All-American® consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic status at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
Prpa was one of four sophomore selections to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® teams and just one of two players from the BIG EAST Conference.
