MILWAUKEE -- Former Marquette standout Nathan Sabich recorded three assists in his first game as a professional, helping the Milwaukee Wave to an 11-4 season-opening victory this past Saturday over the Detroit Ignition.

The contest, played in front of 4,226 fans at the U.S. Cellular Arena, also marked the debut of the new Xtreme Soccer League (XSL), while the Wave are celebrating their 25th season in Milwaukee.

Sabich assisted Jack Przednowek on the goal-ahead goal Saturday -- a three-point goal that gave the Wave a 7-4 lead -- entering the fourth quarter. Sabich also assisted on the Wave goal that would ultimately seal the Ignition's fate when he found a sliding Marcelo Fontana with a minute remaining in regulation.

Sabich also currently serves as Marquette's video coordinator for men's soccer. He was a four-year starter as a defender for the Golden Eagles and was named to the Conference USA All-Freshman team.

The XSL is an indoor soccer league made up of four teams previously affiliated with the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL).
