Stummer, Alfano, Colaizzi Earn NSCAA Scholar Recognition
Dec. 17, 2010
Stummer was named to the first team while teammates Alfano and Colaizzi were named to the second team.
The honor is awarded to student-athletes with a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher who were significant contributors and started more than 50 percent of their team's games.
For the 2010 season Stummer started 18 games, Alfano made 17 starts and Colaizzi notched 16 for a team that advanced to the BIG EAST Championship quarterfinals for the first time in program history. Stummer helped anchor a backline that recorded six shutouts on the season, the most by an MU squad since 2001. Alfano finished third on the team with two assists, tying his 2009 career high. Colaizzi was credited with the game-winning goal in MU's 3-1 BIG EAST tournament victory at St. John's on Nov. 3.
Marquette was the only NCAA Division I school in Wisconsin to be represented for the award and the BIG EAST had a total of 13 players receiving recognition in the All-North/Central Region.
