Sophomore (2007 -08) - Rutherford made 35 singles appearances on the year, the second-most on the roster. He posted an overall singles record of 22-11, including a 12-5 mark in dual competition. A majority of his action came at the No. 5 position, where he concluded the year 8-4. Rutherford capped the year with a win over St. John's in the BIG EAST Championship, sealing the victory for Marquette. He teamed up with senior Brett Binkley to form the squad's top doubles team. The tandem was 28-10 overall to pace the squad in victories, including a 14-6 mark in dual matches. All but one of those outings came at the No. 1 position. The duo claimed the Flight "A" draw at the MU Fall Invitational. He accounted for a total of 31 total doubles wins.

Freshman (2006-07) -- Rutherford started his career as a Golden Eagle playing in 35 matches. He notched a 17-15 overall record and went 8-10 in dual action. Rutherford took to the court at the No. 1, No. 3 and No. 4 positions where he posted a 1-0, 4-10 and 3-0 record respectively. Rutherford lost his first match in the spring, but came back to go 4-1 over the next five matches. In doubles action Rutherford paired with Brett Binkley for 29 matches, posting a team-leading 21-8 record. The duo played 18 matches at the No.1 slot, going 12-6 and went 1-0 at No. 2. They went on a five-match win streak in the spring, going 9-1 in ten consecutive matches.

Prior to Marquette -- Rutherford attended the National Sport School. As a Canadian Junior, he was ranked as high as 6th in doubles and 8th in singles. He was a flag bearer at the 2005 Canada Summer Games.

Personal -- Son of Ken Rutherford. His older brother Scott played tennis at Wisconsin, and sister Leanne played tennis at the University of Michigan. Born December 21, 1987, Rutherford is majoring in finance.
