The Marquette University men's tennis team (0-1) opened its 2013 dual match campaign Saturday afternoon with a 7-0 loss to No. 30 Notre Dame (1-0) at the Eck Tennis Pavilion.

Notre Dame's singles lineup featured four nationally ranked players and the tops doubles tandem is currently 51st in the nation in the first Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings.

The Fighting Irish opened the match by claiming the valuable doubles point for an early 1-0 lead. The 51st-ranked UND tandem of Spencer Talmadge and Greg Andrews downed MU's Dan Mamalat and Vukasin Teofanovic 8-2 at the No. 1 position to seal the point and the Golden Eagles also fell by the same score at the No. 3 spot.

Notre Dame moved ahead 2-0 when No. 110 Blas Moros posted a 6-2, 6-2 win over sophomore Vukasin Teofanovic of Marquette. Two more singles wins at the No. 1 and 3 positions secured the team victory for UND.

Sophomore Cameron Tehrani was the lone Golden Eagle to claim a set, but unfortunately he saw No. 120 Wyatt McCoy rally for a 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-4) decision at the No. 5 spot.

The Golden Eagles will open a five-match homestand on Friday, Jan. 25 when the team hosts IUPUI at 4 p.m. CT at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
