Marquette Downs IUPUI 7-0 In Home Lidlifter

The Marquette University men's tennis team (1-1) opened the home portion of its dual-match schedule with a 7-0 victory over IUPUI (1-4) Friday night at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
The victory was the 12th-straight at home for MU, which posted a perfect 11-0 mark on campus in 2013-14.
MU opened the match by claiming the doubles point, earning 6-4 wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. The duo of Vukasin Teofanovic and Nick Dykema was the first to finish and the Gleb Sklyr and Andre Romanello tandem quickly followed suit at No. 3.
Teofanovic was the first to claim a singles win, downing Jac Newis 7-5, 6-1 at the No. 1 position. The senior rallied in the first set to claim the win before cruising to the victory in the second stanza. Junior Daniel Fernandez and senior Cameron Tehrani posted identical 6-2, 6-2 outcomes at No. 2 and No. 4 respectively, with Tehrani's match securing the team win.
Also collecting singles wins were sophomore Kristiyan Trukov, Romanello and Dykema closed out the night with a victory in the tiebreaker, capped by an amazing shot to conclude the match.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Jan. 30 when the squad begins a three-match road trip at VCU.
