Golden Eagles Post A Pair Of Wins At Home Saturday Afternoon

The Marquette University men's tennis team (4-0) continued its season-opening five-match homestand with a pair of victories over Western Illinois and Chicago State Saturday afternoon at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
The Golden Eagles downed the Leathernecks 7-0, before posting a 7-0 decision over Chicago State in dual match action. MU has now claimed 11-straight victories at home and has been victorious in 17 of the team's last 18 contests dating back to the start of the 2007-08 campaign.
The day was highlighted by singles victories by freshmen J.T. Christian and Drake Kakar, who both posted their first-ever dual match wins. Christian downed Michael Carpen of Chicago State 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 5 position and Kakar posted a 6-2, 7-5 decision over Andy Jones of WIU.
In four matches this season, the Golden Eagles have yet to drop a set in singles play and are undefeated in doubles competition.
MU wraps up its homestand Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. when the team hosts instate rival Wisconsin.
