Golden Eagles Fall 7-0 At Minnesota In Dual Match Action
Jan. 30, 2009
Minneapolis, Minn. -
The Marquette University men's tennis team (4-2) dropped its second-straight dual match Friday night, falling 7-0 at Minnesota (1-0) in non-league action.
The Golden Eagles, who were making their first road trip of the dual match campaign, also fell to No. 31 Wisconsin Tuesday evening at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
Playing its second-straight opponent from the Big Ten Conference, the Golden Eagles weren't able to gain any momentum after narrowly dropping the doubles point. Minnesota posted three straight-set victories in the middle of the singles lineup to secure the victory.
The Gophers opened the match by claiming the doubles point, sweeping all three matches. MU came up just short in a pair of close contests at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions.
Marquette returns to action at UT-San Antonio on Feb. 13.
