Golden Eagles Post A Pair Of 7-0 Victories Saturday Afternoon
Jan. 30, 2010
The Marquette University men’s tennis team (3-0) continued its 2009-10 dual match campaign Saturday afternoon with a pair of 7-0 victories over Chicago State and IUPUI at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
“I was happy to get Dusan (Medan) back on the court and he had a good win over a quality opponent,” head coach Steve Rodecap said. “I think we are getting better in doubles. Our chemistry is improving and our energy was good today.”
The Golden Eagles dropped just two total sets on the day and were able to post tiebreaker victories in both matches. Freshman Jacob Straus made his lineup debut and picked up a win at the No. 1 position versus Chicago State and Medan did the same with a 6-2, 6-4 decision against IUPUI.
MU opened the day with a quick 7-0 victory over Chicago State. The Cougars’ lineup featured just three healthy players, so Marquette was awarded several default victories in singles and doubles positions.
