The Marquette University men's tennis team (4-0) remained undefeated in dual match action this season with a 6-1 victory over UIC Sunday afternoon at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.

The Golden Eagles, who open with 11-straight home matches this season, have also won 11-consecutive on campus dating back to 2008-09.

MU opened the match by claiming the doubles point, posting wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions. The team quickly jumped ahead 3-0 after freshman Jacob Straus and senior Niko Boulieris posted straight-set victories at the No. 5 and No. 6 spots, respectively.

Marquette would find the clinching fourth point difficult to collect. Senior Dusan Medan would finally secure the team victory, but not before being pushed to the limit by UIC's Bastian Harbo 7-5, 7-5. Medan, who trailed 3-0 in the second set, was on serve up 5-4 in the second set. Harbo wouldn't go down without a fight, however, forcing Medan to win two more games and surviving match point.

Freshman Jose Carlos Gutierrez Crowley rallied after dropping the first set and senior Mark Rutherford did the same at No. 2, winning 6-7, 7-5, 1-0 (10-6).

MU returns to action on Feb. 4 when the team hosts Toledo of the Mid-American Conference at 2 p.m.
