The Marquette University men’s tennis team (2-1) claimed its second-straight dual match victory Saturday afternoon with a 7-0 decision over UIC at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium in non-conference action.

The Golden Eagles claimed all three doubles matches and didn’t drop a set in singles competition on the day.

"I was happy with the way our doubles teams played today and proud of the way Cameron (Tehrani) was able to get his first dual win under his belt," head coach Steve Rodecap said.

Junior Jose Carlos Gutierrez Crowley and sophomore Dan Mamalat posted a quick 8-2 decision at No. 1 doubles in their matchup and the MU tandem of Jonathan Schwerin and Vukasin Teofanovic clinched the doubles point shortly thereafter with an 8-3 win at the No. 2 spot.

Mamalat picked up his first win at No. 1 singles this season with a 6-0, 6-3 win over UIC’s Alexander Raa. Freshman Cameron Tehrani pushed Marquette ahead 3-0 with a 6-2, 6-0 win at the No. 6 spot, his first career dual-match victory. Gutierrez Crowley clinched the team victory after handling the Flames’ James Li at the No. 2 position.

Also claiming singles wins for Marquette were Teofanovic, senior Drake Kakar and sophomore Logon Collins.

The Golden Eagles will be back on the court Sunday at noon CT when the squad hosts Bradley.
