The Marquette University men’s tennis team (3-1) wrapped up a perfect weekend with a 7-0 win over Bradley Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.

The Golden Eagles, who also swept UIC 7-0 on Saturday afternoon, won all six of their doubles matches on the weekend and dropped a total of just two sets in singles competition. The team has now won three matches in a row.

"We had really good start in doubles at all three positions and it might have been the best start all year," head coach Steve Rodecap said.  "James (Stark) did well in his first appearance in singles and Logon (Collins) Drake (Kakar) did a good job as well in doubles."

MU swept all three doubles matches to claim the valuable doubles point and kept that momentum as singles play began. Jose Carlos Gutierrez Crowley was the first to win at No. 1 singles and sophomore Dan Mamalat pushed Marquette ahead 3-0 with a straight-set win of his own at the No. 2 spot.

Senior Jonathan Schwerin clinched the team victory with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Bradley’s Arthur Romanet at No. 4 singles. Freshman James Stark picked up his first career dual match win in a tiebreaker and classmate Vukasin Teofanovic was also victorious.

Marquette returns to dual-match action on the road on Feb. 11 and 12 when the squad travels to Boston College and Dartmouth.

"We need to have a good week of preparation leading up to our match with BC and Dartmouth," Rodecap said.  "Both teams are very good and we need to be good on the road."
