The Marquette University men's tennis team (4-4) completed a successful weekend at home with a 5-2 win over UIC (2-6) in non-conference action at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium Sunday afternoon.

MU defeated Toledo 5-2 and South Dakota State 7-0 on Saturday at home and have now won 19-straight matches at Helfaer dating back to the end of the 2012-13 campaign.

The Golden Eagles opened the match by claiming the doubles point. Senior Vukasin Teofanovic and junior Daniel Fernandez, who were unable to finish both matches on Saturday before the point was clinched, earned the point for MU with a 6-2 decision at the No. 1 spot.

Sophomore Kristiyan Trukov pushed Marquette ahead 2-0 with a 7-5, 6-3 decision at the No. 5 position. His match was fueled by a late rally in the first set and he carried that momentum into the second stanza. Fernandez and Teofanovic quickly followed with straight-set wins of their own, with Teofanovic clinching the team victory.

Also earning a singles win for Marquette was sophomore Nick Dykema

The Golden Eagles return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 18 when the team travels to rival Wisconsin. First serve is set for 6 p.m. CT.
