The Marquette University men's tennis team (4-5) dropped a 5-2 non-conference decision at rival Wisconsin (2-7) Wednesday night.
The loss snapped a three-match winning streak for Marquette.
The Golden Eagles return to action Friday night at 6 p.m. CT when the team hosts IPFW at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium to open a three-match homestand.
The Badgers opened the match by claiming the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions and would move ahead 3-0 before Marquette could get on the board. Senior Vukasin Teofanovic posted a straight-set win at the No. 2 position, downing UW's Jakhongir Jalalov 6-4, 6-2. Junior Daniel Fernandez pulled out a hard-fought win at No. 1, edging Alexander Kokorev 7-6, 6-4.
MU won a set in two of the other singles matches, but was unable to collect the four points needed for the team victory.
