Marquette Defeats Furman 4-3 In Non-Conference Action
Feb. 20, 2011
The Marquette University men’s tennis team (5-5) wrapped up a five-match road swing with a 4-3 victory over Furman Sunday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles, who had faced four nationally ranked opponents in a row, snapped a four-match losing skid with the win.
After dropping the doubles point, MU was forced to claim four of the six singles matchups to claim the win. Freshman Logon Collins secured the team victory with a hard-fought 6-1, 6-7, 7-5 decision over Furman’s Tyler Droll at the No. 4 position. Also earning singles wins for Marquette were Jose Carlos Gutierrez Crowley, Jose Manuel Munoz and Otavio Perim.
The Golden Eagles return home Feb. 26 when the team hosts Bradley at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium at 4 p.m. CT.
