Rutherford Sets Doubles Mark As MU Downs Cleveland St., 5-2

The Marquette University men's tennis team (10-0) extended its dual-match winning streak to 10 outings following a 5-2 victory over Cleveland State Sunday afternoon at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
One week after senior Niko Boulieris set the new school record for career singles victories, classmate Mark Rutherford did the same in doubles action. He teamed up with sophomore Jonathan Schwerin to claim an 8-4 win at the No. 2 position, earning his 95th career decision in the process. The Calgary, Alberta, native passed former teammate Brett Binkley to earn No. 1 on MU's list.
Earning singles wins for MU were Rutherford, Jacob Straus, Boulieris and Octavio Perim.
MU wraps up its 11-match homestand on Feb. 28 when the team hosts Eastern Illinois at 10 a.m.
