The Marquette University men's tennis team (6-3) rallied for an impressive 4-3 victory over No. 54 Denver (6-3) Friday night at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium in non-conference action.

The Golden Eagles dropped the valuable doubles point, despite getting an 8-4 win by the MU duo of senior Dan Mamalat and junior Vukasin Teofanovic at the No. 1 position over 32nd-ranked Henry Craig and Diogo Rocha of Denver. The Marquette tandem is now 7-2 in dual competition this year.

Trailing 3-2, senior Logon Collins knotted the score at 3-3 with a 7-6, 6-3 win at the No. 3 spot.

Mamalat clinched the emotional team victory with a hard-fought 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (8-6) win over the Pioneers' Henry Craig at the No. 1 position. The Philadelphia, Pa., native fought off two match points before claiming the win in the third-set tiebreaker.

Also claiming singles wins for Marquette were Teofanovic (No. 2) and freshman Nick Dykema (No. 5).

MU wraps up its four-match homestand Saturday when the squad hosts a doubleheader. Marquette faces Bradley at 12 p.m. CT before welcoming South Dakota State at 6 p.m.
