The Marquette University men’s tennis team (6-4) dropped a 5-2 decision to Toledo (12-6) Saturday evening in non-conference action at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.

The loss was the first in dual competition for the Golden Eagles not against a nationally ranked opponent.

Toledo opened the match by claiming the doubles point, posting wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. In each of its four losses this season, MU has failed to claim the doubles point. Freshman Gleb Sklyr and sophomore David Packowitz were able to post an 8-7 win at the No. 3 position, but it wasn’t enough.

The Rockets were able to post three singles victories to secure the team victory, although Marquette’s Cameron Tehrani and Dan Mamalat secured wins at the No. 1 and No. 4 spots, respectively.

The Golden Eagles return to action on Friday, Feb. 1 when the team hosts Dartmouth at 6 p.m. CT to continue its homestand.
