The Marquette University men’s tennis team (11-0) wrapped up the home portion of its dual match campaign Sunday afternoon, posting a 6-1 victory over Eastern Illinois at Helfaer Tennis Stadium on Senior Day.

Prior to the match, MU honored its senior class of Niko Boulieris, Dusan Medan and Mark Rutherford. Each of the players has left his respective mark on the program. Boulieris is the all-time leader in singles wins and Rutherford has accomplished the same feat in doubles action. Medan, currently ranked 88th in the nation, is the highest ranked Golden Eagle player in at least a decade.

“Our three seniors are a very special group who have moved our program forward both on and off the court,” head coach Steve Rodecap said. “They have put a lot of hard work into the success of our team and have been great role models for our younger players and make guys around them better.”

The Golden Eagles swept all three doubles matches and five of the six doubles contests in the 6-1 victory. Each of the three seniors accounted for a win in both singles and doubles. Also earning wins in singles were sophomore Jonathan Schwerin and junior Jose Manuel Munoz.

Marquette, which opened the year with an 11-match homestand, will now hit the road for 11-straight contests to conclude the regular season. MU returns to the court March 5 versus Pacific.
