Marquette Drops 5-2 Decision To Dartmouth
March 2, 2013
The Marquette University men’s tennis team (6-5) dropped a 5-2 decision to Dartmouth (5-6) Friday night in non-conference action at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.
The valuable doubles point came down to the No. 2 position after the two squads split victories at the other two spots. The Big Green claimed the point with a hard-fought 9-7 decision over MU’s Logon Collins and David Packowitz. The duo was playing just its second match together in 2012-13 and for the first time in dual competition.
Junior Dan Mamalat was able to rally for a win at No. 1 singles and sophomore Cameron Tehrani picked up his team-leading 16th victory with a straight-set decision at No. 4, but it wasn’t enough for Marquette to claim the team victory.
Junior Logon Collins dropped his match in a tiebreaker after the team result had already been decided.
The Golden Eagles continue their homestand Sunday afternoon at 12 p.m. CT when the team hosts Green Bay.
