Men's Tennis Wins Third Straight
March 3, 2007
MILWAUKEE, Wis. - The Marquette men's tennis team took down Wright State, 6-1, tonight at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium, improving their record to 6-4. The Golden Eagles got off to a good start in doubles, winning at all three positions. Stephen Shao teamed up with Greg Sirotek at no. 3 to defeat Dan Sundersingh and Ted Dahmus, 8-2. "I thought we played pretty well tonight," head coach Steve Rodecap said. "We pulled out of some tough situations. We need to be able to win some of those tiebreakers in the first set but overall I thought we had good doubles." In singles action, Pete Van Lieshout earned a win in his first singles match of the dual season over Dahmus, 6-0, 6-1. Niko Boulieris took down Mike Hall at no. 5, 6-0, 6-1. Trent Hagan and Shao rebounded after losing their first sets to earn victories at number one and two. The Golden Eagles will take to the road to take on BIG EAST opponent South Florida next Saturday March 10 at noon. "We now have to prepare for conference play," Rodecap said. "We will have a difficult task ahead of us at South Florida. They will be a good challenge for us. They are a underrated team." -COMPLETE RESULTS-
