The Marquette University men's team (6-5) claimed its second-straight victory on Saturday afternoon, defeating Eastern Illinois 6-1 in non-conference action at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium.

The Golden Eagles, who open a six-match road swing next week, are now 5-0 at home in 2015-16. The No. 1 doubles tandem of senior Daniel Fernandez and Alvaro Verdu clinched the doubles point for Marquette and gave the team an early 1-0 advantage. The Golden Eagles were pushed in singles action and had to rally for multiple three-set victories. Sophomore Andre Romanello, who was inserted into the lineup at the No. 6 spot, clinched the victory with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 win.

Also earning singles wins for Marquette were Fernandez, juniors Nick Dykema and Mackenzie Stearns and freshman Greg Anderson.

MU returns to action March 12 versus Findlay in Toledo, Ohio.
