MILWAUKEE - The Marquette men's tennis team wrapped up day two of the Marquette Invitational at the Helfaer Tennis Stadium. The Golden Eagles were able to advance three players to tomorrow's final round. Marquette struggled in doubles, with all four teams losing and eliminating themselves from the tournament.

Eigis Vedrickas continued his winning streak in single defeating Mark Tate of Northern Illinois, 6-4, 6-4. He will match up against NIU's Brian Livingston tomorrow in the main draw final round. Eric Fleming, also 3-0 on the weekend in singles, was able to take down the Husky's Diego Zagarra-Ballon, 6-4, 7-6(3). Fleming had lost to Zagarra-Ballon less then a month earlier at the Ball State Invitational, 6-1, 7-5.

"Eigis came through in singles again today," assistant coach Raj Gil said. "Eric also played really well and Greg (Sirtotek) fought hard but came up a little short."

Pete Van Lieshout had to play teammate Ricky Servoss in the Mens Consolation Semi-final match-up. Van Lieshout was able to sweep the first set, 6-0 but Servoss came back in the second forcing a tiebreak, losing the set 7-6(2).

The Marquette duo of Brett Binkley and Vedrickas faced David Katz and Zagarra-Ballon of NIU after a first round bye. Binkly and Vedrickas came out strong taking a 5-2 lead. Katz and Zagarra-Ballon fought back with lots of intensity to win the match, 9-8(4). Ian Kawas and Servoss also lost to DePaul's Eric Huffman and Gabe Inchauste, 8-5.

"We need to pick it up in doubles," Gill said, "I felt we could have played better."
