Binkley and Vedrickas Fall to Badgers at the ITA Midwest Regionals
Oct. 21, 2005
Ann Arbor, Mich. - Brett Binkley and Eigis Vedrickas competed in doubles today at the ITA Midwest Regionals in Ann Arbor, Mich. The duo lacked the intensity necessary to advance in the competition. Binkley was coming off a loss yesterday in the qualifying round and Vedrickas is awaiting his opportunity at singles tomorrow in the main draw. The duo teamed up against Madison's Felipe Bellido and Nolan Polley. The Badger's tandem outplayed the Golden Eagles, 8-6. "I didn't feel like we were really sharp," head coach Steve Rodecap said. "We played well at times but we just didn't take advantage of the opportunities that we had." Vedrickas is the only Marquette player still awaiting his singles match which will get underway tomorrow at 8:00 a.m., against no. 6 seeded, Matt Baccarani of Ball State. "Eigis has a good opportunity against Matt Baccarani of Ball State," said Rodecap. "He (Baccarani) is in the national rankings and is a high seed here so it will be a good opportunity for Eigis to get a good win. He'll have to play well in order to win. Matt's a good player but I know that Eigis is excited and he'll be ready to go."
